Welcome to the Blue Eclipse!
My name is Benjamin Joseph Jancewicz.
I am a Junior Graphic Design student at Messiah College of Pennsylvania.

I grew up in Northern Quebec, on a Naskapi Native American Reservation. My father is a missionary, linguist and Bible translator to the Naskapi Native Americans. When I was 4, my family moved to Schefferville, Quebec to begin my father's work.
I went to the Naskapi school from kindergarten through Grade 11, spending most of my time with the Naskapi kids.

I learned the language quickly, and found at a very early age I was able to shift easily between the four major cultures in Shefferville. My father began working on the Naskapi's first Dictionary, and would often consult me on the way certain words fit together in sentences, and how a Naskapi person would naturally say something.

In my spare time, I began exploring three major hobbies; piano, engineering and art. Engineering paid the predominating role at the time, and upon graduating from the Naskapi high school with high honors, the Governor General's Award, and the Cree-Naskapi Award, I decided to come to the United States to go to college and become a Mechanical Engineer.

I took another year of high school in my parent's home state of Connecticut to reduce the culture shock of coming to the US, and had my first art class. I became excited with the field of graphic design and began toying with it in my spare time, but remained true to my original plan of becoming an engineer.

During the second semester of my second year at Messiah College as an Engineering student, I began to feel a strong calling from God that I was in the wrong field. He showed me in many ways how He could use me in more ways in Art than in Engineering. Art is what held my passion, and my greatest talents. After much praying and talking with many of the professors in various departments at Messiah, I made the decision of transferring to a Graphic Arts major.
